Who am I? I am Graciela (Grace), a professional singer, music/singing teacher and fitness instructor. ‘Passionate’ does not illustrate enough how much I love what I do. I love to discover new things, explore knowledge and help people become their best.
My research is just part of a holistic view of the human being as a whole. Particularly, this is about fitness for singers. A not very explored niche that I have often tried to put together due to necessity and lack of information: I am a multi-genre singer who moves on stage and the basic breathing principles of dancing and singing clash. My curiosity started there. My experience with musical theatre, body expression and Alexander technique does not cover fitness (i.e. ability to improve cardiovascular activity, flexibility, muscular strength, muscular endurance and agility) specifically aimed at singers. This taking in consideration the fact that a singer is an athlete who requires a discipline in vocal practice, nutritional requirements, breathing/posture/relaxation techniques and a refined way of life (with ‘refined’ I mean not to succumb to excesses, cultivate the mind and the spirit, the physical appearance, introspection for a productive creativity and the selected relationships with others – since the singer is by nature a highly sensitive being, he/she must choose carefully his/her surroundings and influences).
