The Perfect Match

read

Once upon a time
there was a sculpture
made of white marble,
a fine piece of art,
with intricate clefts and nodes,
lines that fell naturally,
draped curves of luminous cadence,
the truest expression of purity,
beauty,
and elevation of the senses.

One day,
a creature of doom
appeared from the darkness
and saw the sculpture.
Captivated by its splendour,
it came close
and mirrored the sculpture’s features,
admiring every corner,
every depth of sublime craft,
minutely studying every angle,
fitting and filling in all the gaps
to such extent
that the sculpture became alive,
thought this was her counterpart,
and merged with the creature,
surrendering to its will.

Sculpture and creature were one.

That’s when the creature,
in a violent and sudden spin,
broke the sculpture,
leaving nothing behind
but scattered pieces of fragile rubble.

She saw his darkness,
but nobody had seen,
or will ever see her
like he did,
so she confused his deceit
with love,
when in reality
he was never there to love her,
just to destroy her,
as that’s the nature of every dark creature.
